oh hi bb <3
Well hello, Friends!!
One of the hardest parts of the first trimester is the secrecy. Honestly! Don’t get me wrong… we’re sick. We’ve been sick every moment of every day, BUT what would have made this so much easier to live with is knowing people know how miserable i was! I go to my Mom’s house every Friday with any siblings(and their kids)to hang out and whatnot — i knew for 5 weeks before i told anyone & those Fridays AND OTHER FAMILY THINGS WE ATTENDED WITHIN THAT TIME were miserable.
But we made it, friends. We officially announced to the world & i’m sicker than ever, but feeling lighter than i have in 8 weeks!
I am 12 weeks as per October 2nd(this past Monday as i’m typing this), which is happy and really started the excitement for me. If you haven’t read my first harvest letter, i wrote about how we miscarried back in July, so this pregnancy was happy, but i had a lot of reservations and just allowed myself to sort of keep from getting too attached at the beginning JUST in case things ended up the same way. But things are happy, things are moving in the direction i’ve honestly always dreamed about & i am just so happy and thankful. We WILL have a blog with the story coming soon because it’s wild and miraculous and just… just wild lol
Other than bb news — we’ve been up to a lot actually! We’ve been slowly but productively working on our kitchen renovation which has been in the works since January(progress report to come.. i’ve been bad at taking photos because i’m honestly over it at this point lol).
We also went on our 5-year wedding anniversary trip to……….. Chicago. for one day lol
We were supposed to go to Hawaii with my Brother and SIL because they are celebrating their 5-year also * literally the day i’m writing this is their anniversary! * , but because of the fires happening we had to pivot & decided to do a mini staycation and work on our kitchen instead.
It was honestly so fun and refreshing. We stayed at the Thompson Hotel Chicago(the Hyatt) & guys… first off… gorgeous and spency lol i knew it was gonna cost more than a normal hotel because that’s what we sorta wanted to spend money on since it was a one-night stay, but we found out it was more expensive than what we even planned for and all we could do was laugh! So we felt like little fish out of water as we walked the beautiful lobby filled with suits and pencil skirts making their way to the penthouse, speaking to colleagues who came from foreign Countries to be there - it was wild, but actually so fun lol
We were also surrounded by a beautiful atmosphere; restaurants, shopping, such aesthetic and just well-kept neighborhoods covered with brick and ivy. I told Jake that the hotel cost was well worth it for the atmosphere we were able to experience. Also, the view from our window, at night especially, was magic. Jake must have thought i was crazy becasue i just stood there over and over to look at the world moving around us as we sat tucked away. Something poetic about seeing how life really does move differently for each person in each season of life. We walked around for an hour just looking around. They had aaaaaall the rich people shops like Cartier, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, and just honestly any other shop you could think of - we were blocks away from Michigan AVE, so the Water Tower Place was right there too. Just all in all a good time. We ate CFA (lol), walked back to the hotel and watched Elvis & went to bed. The next morning we went across the street in the pouring rain and ate pancakes and omelettes at a cute pancake house before we packed up and headed home. I was so thankful that even just a day away really felt so rejuvenating and healing.
We did kitchen things, ordered things, went to the zoo with Harvey girl, and spent a lot of time just as a family; whereas if we had gone to Hawaii Rehn wouldn’t have been there. So it was just nice and chill, which is very us. it was perfect.
Here are a few videos of our time there <3
