October ‘23
to quote the lovely, Anne — “i’m so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers”
it’s always such a happy and lovely month to be alive. It’s even prettier and more magical when you are able to live in it through the lens of your 3-year-old.
the amount of “Mom, look at all the colors! They’re beautiful” and jumping in leaf piles as we take walks around our neighborhood - it’s magic.
October is usually filled with fun autumnal activities, but honestly, i wasn’t feeling very “festive” due to nausea and lethargy, but we made simmer pots & painted pumpkins, and watched Scooby Doo, so it wasn’t all discarded :)
everyone is decorating for Christmas, and while i want to, i also want to wait a little longer before we start decorating our home
mainly because i usually decorate with live foliage and trees, so that’s not happening yet, but also, i was such a minimalist before we moved into our home & then we were pregnant and had a kid, so priorities shifted $$$ wise so I’ve never truly bought much for holidays when it comes to decorations!!
i think this year we will begin the process of investing/accumulating staple pieces for our mantel and just start to acquire moving forward! I’m excited about this year because i think i’m going to do a little more outside than i ever have and I can’t wait to show you guys!!
we took some impromptu family photos which was so fun! we haven’t had them professionally done since Rehn was 5 months old, and i wanted to get some that didn’t focus on pregnancy so that we had our last special one together :) my sister & i just took photos of each-other and some of our other siblings tagged along too for some photos, and i’m just so happy we did this.
our next family photo shoot will be taken by a friend, but that will be more of a family maternity shoot, focusing on our next season of being a family of 4, so these are just beyond cherished by me.
funny side-note :
we made a very impromptu tiktok with our halloween costumes, and it went crazy viral (almost 4 million views) which was so funny and so wild!
click the picture for the video that completely shook the bluey fandom 😂
other than that we’ve just been really busy, but not at the same time.
I’ve really come to appreciate how each season shifts how we live our lives. the spring and summer months are always more fast-paced, i have truly come to love and cherish the art of slowing down. we tend to do a lot more indoors as it can get pretty dang cold here in NWI, but we bundle and have fun in the snow too because i think that is so important for littles to do(and us not so little humans too).
what are some of your favorite traditions, or activities to do as seasons begin to shift from fall to winter?
are you a decorate for christmas early kinda person, or are you a grinch and get grumpy when someones tree is up on November 1st? there’s no wrong answer lol ;) ;)
Here’s a little Rehn update for you:
