Hi, friends, I’m so glad you’re here :)
So I’m not sure if I said this or not, but I’m going to shoot for one Harvest letter a month, sort of as a recap of the previous month (things I ate, bought, was inspired by, did, etc.) so this is a recap of August!
to be completely honest with you, August was hard. It was beautiful, and we had some fun times for sure, but it was a mentally and emotionally taxing month for me. We spent many days outdoors, in the pool, at the beach, hanging out with family/friends, and all the things!
one thing I’ve been really wanting to do more of is take Rehn out to eat with us more. Rehn was(is)a Covid baby, so we didn’t get to take her out when she was a baby to all the places, so she didn’t experience how to behave in certain places. Some of that is on us for not equipping her at home, but when you’re raising your first baby(through a pandemic as well)you’re not thinking of making sure she knows to sit still at a restaurant table. We took her out with us to BDUBS a couple of weekends ago, randomly, and it felt like I was finally getting a piece of motherhood, and myself back! it was lovely, encouraging, and happy. If you have a covid baby I’d love to know if this is relatable at all!
speaking of Rehn - i guess this was just a big Rehn month; we signed her up for preschool?!
now, here’s the thing, i want to homeschool. i think that’s still end game for me, but i have NO idea how to create structured time with her like schooling. she is a wild child who loves to play and move(literally the hardest part of going anywhere with her is how she can not sit still), and i have always felt this lack of sense when it comes to teaching - so i thought for preschool she can sort of learn basics, play, make friends, do fun stuff like swim and gymnastics, learn about a teacher and their role, and then as we enter into kindergarten i can sorta get my ducks in a row, and begin to work based off of her learning patterns! i love the idea of unschooling while keeping some structure as well - she is a sensory girlie, so i think it will be so fun for her! so yes, as i type this out she is at preschool & it’s been an emotional rollercoaster!
